About Chris

IMG_1212I am, above all, a Christ-follower who was rescued from a treacherous life of my own choosing by a Sovereign King. He gloriously gave His life in my place to settle the debt of my unrighteousness and called me to Himself and made me His own. If there is anything of worth about me…it all begins there. I am also husband to Jodi for over 27 years now and father to Dillon (and his precious wife, Jennifer) and Hayden.

When I graduated from high school in 1988, I was married and then immediately left to serve in the US Army. My jobs consisted of serving as a Military Policeman, a Criminal Investigator, and the last 30 months as a detailed Army Recruiter. These jobs laid the foundation for two career pursuits after the Army…as a Deputy Sheriff and as a Corporate sales guy. 01a90d1e73bc7e68124ec6da0a3d5c171c102a753c

In 2000, I yielded to God’s calling on my life to serve as a pastor. Actually the calling was to preach the gospel and make disciples…and the way I do that is as a pastor. My family and I have served churches in South Carolina, New York, and now in Florida.

I have an amazing family. We love to hang out with each other. I enjoy boring them with my endless tales of life chronicles (of which some are true) and they appease me by listening. It is a great relationship.

My sons are great guys and both have a relationship with Christ. My firstborn, Dillon, and his wife Jenn serve a cause greater than themselves. He is an Army Officer since graduation 01b1330e7e3fefbec7ec73c26e6e0326f369af644ffrom West Point (USMA 2015). They are active in their church and profoundly wise. Jenn is my first “daughter” (since I don’t do inlaws) and is one of the most intelligent people I know. She is training for a career as a Nurse Practitioner at UT Austin, near where they live. She also loves Jesus and has served on numerous occasions in some of the toughest environments imaginable in short-term missions including the Amazon Jungle and the cities of India. My other son, Hayden, is a high school student, a musician, and a leader in his student ministry at church. He is a missionary and a discipler. God has great things in store for him.

My partner/wife/encourager and biggest cheerleader is Jodi whom I met when we were too young to drive. I married her before she got a better offer and reminded her that since we were Christ-followers, she could never get out of it. She is a dynamic speaker and discipler of women. She has worked with 014f74b539f8a3d4043dd66ab1e4dd7b41065aec3cme in ministry since the beginning and is my most trusted counselor. She also is a gifted teacher and writer. You can read some of her stuff at her blog HERE.

Honestly, most people think we are a normal family with it all “together” but most days…we are just a little crazy.

I serve as the Senior Pastor of a dynamic congregation in Pensacola, Florida. I love to preach and teach. Over the years I have had the opportunity to also teach as an adjunct professor of missions, evangelism and church planting, as well as biblical studies at the Baptist College of Florida. Needless to say, I love investing in leaders and evangelists who are committed to carrying the gospel to the ends of the earth. In addition to serving for 3 1/2 years as church planting missionaries in Malta, New York, I  have also served in short-term missions in North Africa, South Africa, India, New York and Maryland.

Much of my story has yet to be written. My hope is that the Lord will allow me many more years to serve Him; nevertheless, if I only had another day to do so, I would want to do it well and hear Him declare, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

  1. Just wanted you to know that in study for a message on marriage I watched you sermon on God’s Purpose For the Family and received a blessing. I took from is several ideas in planning my message. I believe when something or someone is a blessing if possible I need to tell them so.
